We have concluded that these craft were not likely to be Chinese Lanterns because of their overwhelming brightness while at a far distance and their ability to stay in formation with each other and all go off at the same time. There were also HUNDREDS of spectators that saw a triangular formation in a town nearby.

I saw something very similar on July 8th!! It was just one single orange/red orb shaped ufo. It seemed to be on fire!! Not so sure it was a chinese lantern. My 5 friends with me saw it too. One of them said it was just a lantern, but I myself have doubts about that being the case! It flew across the windless sky and slowly just disappeared! No noise at all either.
